How we treat each other
Communication
- We look each other in the eye and tell the truth.
- If we are angry in the moment, we observe the 24 hour rule.
Care
- We have each other’s backs. We give aid to a teammate.
Trust
- We trust each other on and off the ice.
- When someone calls for a puck, we trust them to make the play.
Respect
- We respect one another.
- We don’t speak behind each other’s backs.
Accountable
How we show up every day
Commitment
- We give 100% in practice.
- We are committed to our team and each other.
- We prioritize the team and make attempt to attend every practice and game.
Professionalism
- We conduct ourselves with dignity.
- We control ourselves when upset (ie. no smashing sticks or slamming doors).
- We take warmups seriously and do exercises with intention so we prevent injury.
- We follow the game day schedule.
Focus
- We don’t bring our troubles to the rink.
- When we are with the team, we are present and focussed.
Precision
- We do everything with precision.
- We don’t cheat on drills.
- We never adopt lazy techniques or habits
- ie. sticks on the ice, give a target for passes, no coasting
Compete
How we respond under pressure
Buy In
- We trust and buy into the team systems.
- We trust the process and recognize that team building takes time.
Poise
- We show no weakness.
- We never let it show when we are tired.
Next shift mentality
- We leave the last shift behind. We let go of bad shifts.
- We only worry about the next shift.
Positive Messaging
- We speak only in positive terms about the team, the organization and each other.
- If we don’t have something positive to say, we say nothing.
- We follow the same rules on social media and in conversation.
